Most of the deer in this area are Mule Deer distinguished by their very large ears

These fawns are about 1 month old

This fawn with his mother is about 2 weeks old

This fawn is just hours old

In January a buck looks for a mate

In early August the bucks are still in "velvet"

This mule deer's antlers are covered with "velvet" which means that his antlers are still growing

We can't promise that a beautiful buck will be waiting outside your cabin when you stay with us, but - - - it definitely happens!

The best time of the year to see the new fawns is the month of July.  We found this fawn on July 22

The does are very protective of their babies and don't really appreciate visitors
