There is a vast variety of birds in the Ruidoso area and I have yet to capture them all.  Keep checking in on this page as I add more photos to my collection

The beautiful acorn woodpecker lives here year round

Cassin's Finch

The sweet little chickadee lives here year round and sings the sweetest song

Our summer hikes to the top of Sierra Blanca almost always are rewarded with a grey jay

A beautiful male turkey in full strut (April)

Pine Sisken feasting on purple thistle

I'm going to call this bird a Townsend's warbler because I'm not sure but if you know what it is, feel free to send me an emal!

This is the same bird as the one on the left.

This Flycatcher has a snack for her babies and is waiting patiently for me to leave so she can feed them

Just moments later the Flycatcher delivers the snack to her 3 hungry babies!

This tiny owl was napping on a deck near the Black Forest.  Kenny's hand give you an idea how small he was

One of our most colorful birds, the Western Tanager is seen in Ruidoso in the summer months

The common breeding hummer of the Rockies, a female Broadtail

Although we typically start spotting hummingbirds in mid March, a mid-April snow has this male Broadtail wondering why he came to the mountains so early
